Haunted House writing prompts
A haunted house is a slow argument. Pick a prompt, name the previous owner in the first round, and let the house win on points.
- The new owners find a list of house rules taped to the inside of every cupboard.
- Every door in the house leads somewhere different at night.
- The estate agent forgot to mention the basement was the previous owner.
- A family inherits a house and the housekeeper, who does not appear to be paid.
- The renovation reveals a sealed room with a child's bed and a kettle still warm.
- Every photograph on the mantelpiece is of a family the new owners have never met but recognise.
- The new tenant's dog will not enter the kitchen.
- The house has more rooms than the floor plan.
