Horror writing prompts
Good horror is patience. Don't rush the monster — let the room get colder line by line as each writer adds the next small wrong thing.
- The new baby will only sleep if the parents leave the front door unlocked.
- A village wakes up to find every mirror replaced overnight.
- The family dog starts politely refusing to enter one specific room.
- A grief counsellor's voicemail keeps filling up with calls from clients who died years ago.
- The community pool drained itself in the night and there is a door at the bottom.
- Every photo taken in the new house has one extra child in it.
- A weather presenter starts predicting deaths in the long-range forecast.
- Someone is leaving small wooden carvings of the family on the porch each morning.
